Do you have a missing tooth?

Dentures are a non-invasive treatment option for missing or extracted teeth. Dentures improve bite, speech, and your smile's appearance which helps patients have more confidence and a better quality of life every day. Dentures are also more cost-effective than both dental implants and bridges.

Dentures are removable prosthetic devices used to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They are custom-made to fit the shape of an individual's mouth and can be made to replace all or some of the teeth. Dentures are typically made from a combination of materials such as acrylic resin, porcelain, and metal.

Choosing Complete Dentures

Three types of dentures exist: complete, partial, and implant-supported. Complete dentures replace all missing teeth, while partials are for some remaining teeth. Implant-supported dentures offer better stability and comfort.

Complete tooth loss
Complete dentures are needed when a patient loses all natural teeth in the upper or lower jaw. This can be due to age, decay, or injury.
Demolished oral function
Patients without teeth may struggle with eating and speaking, affecting their quality of life. Complete dentures restore function, enabling easier eating, speaking, and smiling.
Improved aesthetics
Tooth loss affects appearance, causing sagging and altering facial structure. Complete dentures restore natural shape, giving a youthful look.

Caring for Dentures

Caring for
  • 01

    Clean dentures daily

Clean dentures daily to remove food particles and bacteria. Use a soft brush and non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid hot water; it can damage them. Rinse thoroughly.
  • 02

    Handle dentures carefully

Dentures can be delicate and may break if mishandled. When cleaning or handling your dentures, make sure to do so carefully and over a soft towel or water-filled sink to avoid damage in case they slip out of your hands.
  • 03

    Soak dentures overnight

It is recommended to soak your dentures overnight in a denture cleaning solution or water to keep them moist and prevent them from drying out. Make sure to rinse them thoroughly before wearing them in the morning.

Please note, that while dentures can easily provide a cost-effective solution for replacing one or two entire rows of teeth (or a few teeth) it does have its limitations, especially when compared to dental implants.

For example, dentures provide no 'root' to the tooth or jaw, which is important to help preserve and protect the jaw's bone density. There is also a bit of an adjustment period needed to get used to the feeling.

As always, the dentists at our denture clinic will always provide you with a professional assessment and advice to help you understand what your best options are for replacing teeth. We always seek to save and restore your natural teeth (such as with a root canal treatment) instead whenever possible and see extractions as an emergency last resort.
